2013 Henderson 4th of July celebration info | News
Independence Bank and the Downtown Henderson Partnership are planning the 4th of July celebration for Henderson and the surrounding communities. The event takes place on the riverfront in downtown Henderson with food, children's activities, music and of course, the big fireworks show.
Food vendors will be provided by Rex's Barbecue, R&L Concessions, Kona Ice and Independence Bank will be selling ice cream. The food vendors will open at 5:30 P.M.
The children's activities will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in Audubon Mill Park on the Henderson Riverfront. The activities include Balloon Art by Daniel Herron, Fingerprinting by Henderson Police Department, a petting zoo provided by Equestrian Enterprises and pony rides will also be available for $3.00.
Musical Entertainment will begin at 6:00pm and run until 11:00pm. There will be a small break during the switch of bands around 8:00pm and then again for the Fireworks at 9:00pm. The Musical entertainment this year is The Smoke Rings and the Green River Drifters.
The Smoke Rings are an energetic rock band from the Southern Illinois/Indiana Area, that fuses the sounds of modern alternative and classic rock. The five piece band consists of Stephanie Smith on lead vocals, the brothers Jake & Chris Martin on guitar and drums, Shawn Storckman on bass and Darren Phillips on keyboards and guitar.
The band has a long history of performing in the Midwest as well as three years playing the most famous underground clubs in New York City. The Smoke Rings pride themselves in their ability to perform challenging material and have a huge catalog of both covers and original music.
The Green River Drifters are a 5 piece band out of Webster Co. What started as just 4 buddies getting together to cut loose and play some tunes , has quickly become a highly sought after working band. The five piece band consists of Kevin Forker-Vocals, Heath Stone-Drums, Donny Alvey-Guitar, Adam Humphrey-Bass and Josh Hankins-Guitar. With a sound all of their own, which is best described as a refreshing mix of blues, country and rock.
The fireworks show over the Ohio River will begin at 9:00 P.M.
