Burkes says his training will help Henderson County's Animal Control to build stronger cruelty cases.

HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE)- An animal control officer in Henderson County is now a certified animal cruelty investigator.

Animal Control Supervisor Michael Burkes just returned from a nationally accredited program in Louisiana.

Burkes says his training will help Henderson County's Animal Control to build stronger cruelty cases.

"I've met a lot of different people from a lot of different agencies that are going to be there to help us on a federal level, on a state level, on a local level. I've learned how to identify certain things such as dog fighting, breeding and, different problems that are very hard to prove otherwise, without this education," Burkes told 14 News.
Burkes is now one of only three animal cruelty investigators in Kentucky.
