Orange moon caused by field fire | Weather
Not only was the smoke from that large field fire in Henderson County on Monday detected on Dual Doppler, it also created haze in the atmosphere that created an orange looking moon.
Andrea Kappler snapped a picture of the orange crescent moon Monday night. The color is caused by light refraction from the moon with the smoke particles in the atmosphere.
This can also occur when there are large dust storms in an area.
